The 'hands free' Backing Tool is safer than traditional methods of bracing the nut in flange bolting, minimising the risk of trapped hands and fingers. The Backing Tool needs only one person to torque/de-torque the fastener and arrest the bolt head, unlike the need for two people when using a flogger for the same purpose.
